EU, Coldiretti: “Yes to the Green New Deal but without cuts to the CAP”

Yes to the Green New Deal but not with the resources of the common agricultural policy (CAP)

Yes to the Green New Deal but not with the resources of the common agricultural policy (CAP). This is what the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini says in stressing the need to invest in agriculture which is a strategic sector for making Europe more sustainable. We need a strong, simple and effective Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and with adequate resources to allow businesses – underlines Prandini – to play an essential role in territorial control, in contrasting the climate crisis and against hydrogeological instability.

Italy – concludes Prandini – can play a leadership role for this goal thanks to the greenest agriculture in Europe with 299 Dop / Igp / Stg specialties recognized at Community level and 415 Doc / Docg wines, the leadership in organic farming with 72 thousand organic workers
